Akihiko HOKUGO
Professor Dr., Kobe University
Research Center for Urban Safety and Security (RCUSS)
Born in Akashi City, Hyogo Prefecture in 1956.
Ph.D. in Graduate School of Natural Sciences, Kobe University. Worked as researcher at the Institute of Scientific Approaches for Fire & Disaster - ISAD (from 1985), as researcher at the Building Research Institute - BRI (from 1990), as head of the BRI Smoke Prevention Research Department (from 1996), and as an associate professor at the Kobe University, Research Center for Urban Safety and Security - RCUSS (from 2001).
In 2007, became a professor at the Kobe University RCUSS (concurrently serving in the Department of Architecture, Graduate School of Engineering), where he has been conducting interdisciplinary research on persons required assistance during disaster, fire evacuation, urban safety and reconstruction planning.

Request for contributions to the Commemorative Publication
To those who are related to Hokugo Lab (alumni, current students, faculty staff, etc.):
If you would like to contribute to the Commemorative Publication, please send your congratulatory message in English or Japanese to the following e-mail address.

If you do not receive an automatic confirmation email after submitting your application, please contact us at celebration@rcuss-usm.jp.
The style of congratulatory message is free; it should be no more than one page in A4 size. Please include your name, message title, year of graduation (e.g., undergraduate degree in 2015), and current affiliation. Please send your congratulatory message as an attachment in Word format (.doc, .docx).
If you have memorial photos, we also welcome the submission of your photos (multiple photos allowed). Please include the photos: inside the document of congratulatory message (it is allowed to exceed more than one page for inserting the photos in the document); or send the image files as separate attachments. Please feel free to indicate information such as the title of the photo, its summary, and the date or period it was taken (please include this information inside the document of congratulatory message or in the body of the email).
The maximum size per email is 25 MB, including the total of attachments.
